News / ADT Releases TURBOdesign Suite v5 – Leading Platform for Turbomachinery Design

London, UK, November 2, 2011, Advanced Design Technology, Ltd., or ADT, a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods, is delighted to announce the release of TURBOdesign Suite 5 the leading platform for superior turbomachinery design.   

TURBOdesign Suite 5 is a fully integrated environment for the preliminary, 3D design, analysis and optimisation of all types of turbomachinery. Based on the unique 3D Inverse Design approach, it allows users to create breakthrough turbomachinery components with improved range and efficiency, while considerably shortening the design cycle.  The inverse design methodology being based on flow-related design parameters, it allows ease of transfer of design know-how across teams and products.  

The new TURBOdesign Suite 5 includes major enhancements to existing products and the release of two additional programs:

  • TURBOdesign1 has been extensively developed to provide full script capabilities for all input and output parameters, designers can now run optimisations with a wider range of design parameters including thickness distribution, meridional shape, stacking condition and blade number.
  • TURBOdesign Pre is a newly developed 1D code for the preliminary design of various turbomachinery components, ease of use and the ability to quickly explore a large number of preliminary designs allows users to select the most effective configuration based on their design targets in a matter of minutes.  
  • TURBOdesign Optima is an integrated platform for optimisation of turbomachinery components and development of design know-how. Coupling automatic optimization with 3D inverse design over different workflows, it allows users to satisfy challenging multi-point, multi-objective and multi-disciplinary design objectives while also generating flow-related design guidelines for similar applications. 
  • TURBOdesign Optima supports Design of Experiments (DoE), Response Surface Modelling (RSM) and Multi-objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGA) with either ADT’s own optimiser or Simulia’s Isight.

TURBOdesign Suite 5 also includes TURBOdesign CAD for the direct manipulation of the blade design and major import/export capabilities, TURBOdesign CFD the fast and robust CFD solver and TURBOdesign2 the fully viscous 3D inverse design code for the design of axial transonic turbomachinery.
